There was an order from the City Mayor to postpone/cancel the demolition in the Brgy. Soliman Agdao because of the Flash Flood incident that happened last June 29, 2011. Mayor Sara Duterte has more problems due to the said incident.

Unfortunately the Sheriff Abe Andres ignored or was not able to follow the said order and head out to Agdao, with demolition team, to continue the demolition in the area.

Then, trouble happened at the said Barangay. Mayor Sara Duterte herself went out to the place to stop the demolition and confront the Sheriff responsible for the violence.

She called the Sheriff and when the Sheriff was near her, Mayor Sara Duterte suddenly punched the Sheriff in the face several times.

Watch the Video As Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte unleashed her fury by giving 3-4 strong punches right straight to the Sheriff’s face:

being part of the higher echelon does not give anyone the right to step on someone’s dignity through public embarrassment..

if duterte cannot respect her fellow human being, she then doesn’t deserve a tiny amount of respect ..

no matter what her intention was, good or evil, for doing so, violence cannot be a perfect substitute to diplomacy..it’s true that this country needs tough leaders to go through “tuwid na landas”..but we don”t need abusive leaders of these kinds..

duterte deserves to be charged before the proper authority, the DILG, of “conduct unbecoming of public officials”..

to some, what she did seemed funny and impressive.. but to a civilized nation, it is “barbaric”..

It’s true that what she did was harsh and she should not have punched the Sheriff. But it’s the Sheriff fault at the first place. He ignored the order to postpone the demolition. The people of Matina Area has not yet recovered from the flash flood and here is Mr. Sheriff insisting to demolish the houses, despite the order to postpone the demolition. Sara was still assisting and helping the people in Matina and then this Sheriff started to cause another incident which could have lead to a bloody incident or even worst, killings. If Sara did not come and stop the Sheriff.. “Sikat nanaman ang Davao City”. I think he deserved it. It’s not that I am defending Sara Duterte’s act, nor I am patronizing what she did, but there are far more worst and corrupt politician and government officials/employees in the Philippines.. IMHO ^_^

SHAME on YOU mayor Sarah Duterte.. ” a mistake can not be solved by committing another with another Mistake”….

a good leader should set a good example…resorting to physical aggression, or any violent acts is abuse of power

I think what she did was wrong, but the sheriff sure deserved it. He should have been more sensitive to the crisis the city was experiencing. He should have waited for 2 hours for the Mayor. Obviously, the demolition order was done without due diligence as there were raised issues of inconsistencies.

He should have waited for the Mayor and respected her plea to wait for the TRO.

I will always have high respects for the Duterte’s and I salute you Mayor Sara for showing us how you value your people.

the end does not justify the means…

  • https://cahadeopinion.wordpress.com fauzwin

certainly not. but what end are you pertaining? that the sheriff got black eye or the mayor’s action prevented an ensuing bloody riot?

Very diplomatic! Abuse of power! Classic way of using power, barbaric!

Lets say, the sheriff was in fact at fault, should she really have to punch? Can she not control emotion? What is she will apply her being lawyer at court, will she cry at the same time with her clients being on question because she cannot control emotions?
She should know consequences and risks, she is a lawyer, a politician and a MAYOR at that, didnt she has a training of some sort on character building apart from punching?
And why are her men holdin up the sheriff, so he cannot respond back to the punches?

I’m from Manila and believe me, maraming demolition dito. Pero natuto na ang mga tao, imbis na lumaban at masaktan, they will slowly move out and get all the things na pwede pa nilang pakinabangan katulad ng bubong, dingding, kahoy etc.

There was already a notice given to your Mayor’s office last month, about the demolition, nag file nga sila ng appeal sa court pero declined ito ng court. I know Mayor wants to help her people, pero sa mali ang pamamaraan nya, at least, in front of the public.
