Kerygma Conference 2010 At Davao City a Success!

Yesterday I attended Bo Sanchez’s Kerygma Conference 2010 entitled RESTORATION: Be Blessed, Be Inspired, Be Restored held in Bangko Central ng Pilipinas Convention Center, Davao City. It was a fantastic event indeed. People from different parts of Mindanao came to witness this big event. According to the event organizer, all the tickets were sold out.

The event started around 9:00AM. Bro. Adrian Panganiban lead the opening worship. People were dancing and singing. After the rejuvenating opening worship the talks followed. The first talk was delivered by the founder of Kerygma himself, Bro. Bo Sanchez, entitled The Grand Feast Talk. His talk was based on a parable in the Bible, the Parable of the Prodigal Son. He stressed out that the title of the verse should have been “the Parable of the Prodigal Father”. Because Prodigal refers to a person who spends money recklessly and wastefully extravagant, and his father was that kind of man. Bro. Bo also stressed out in his talk that there is Victory in Rock Bottom. When everything doesn’t seemed to be right anymore and you hit rock bottom, that the time when you will have your victory. “In rock bottom, there is Victory!” Bro Bo’s talk lasted around 45 minutes. I was not able to listen to the whole talk, because I had to feed my daughter and food and drinks were not allowed inside the convention center.

After, the talk of Bro. Bo, Bro. Adrian once again sang songs of worship together with the Light of Jesus Music Ministry. The second talk was delivered by Br. Pio Español entitled The Secret to a Fantastic Family Life. Bro. Pio shared about his life’s experiences with his family and shared the secret of how to have a fantastic family. He shared how he prioritized things in his life. He also said that “you must put your spouse next to God in your life”. Also, based on his experience, putting your spouse on a pedestal will get your family fantastic results. He also shared that he and his wife pray together when they wake up in the morning. There no is “perfect” family, problems will always come to a family but despite that, you can always have a Fantastic Family. And the best part of all, their family’s goal is to reach heaven.

After the talk of Bro. Pio, we have our lunch. Before the third talk was delivered, Bro. Adrian gave another entertainment, the afternoon worship. The third and last talk was given by Bro. Obet Cabrillas. He talked about The Secret to Being a Happy Catholic. He shared how he became a missionary after “his life in the darkness”. He talked about the Sacraments and how to be a completely happy Catholic with the sacraments. He delivered his talk in a jolly manner. After Bro. Obet, we have Chad Borja giving a song number and he shared about his cancer problem 12 years ago and how he was able to deal with it.

There was also a raffle draw for those who submitted their Feed Back form. And to my surprise my name was called out! We’ll actually Mr. Jill Ramiscal could not understand my hand writing and he read my name as “Ismael Cariño”. I was not sure if that was my form but after the event I checked if it was mine and yup! I won a nice white bag made of plastic cellophane (I think).

Finally, before the conference ended, there was a celebration of the Holy Mass and a Healing Service by Fr. Sulpicio Vincoy.

The Kerygma Conference 2010 at Davao City was a success! Bro. Orlando Sto. Domingo was the coordinator and hosted the event together with his colleagues from Davao’s Feast and Light of Jesus ministry. Bro. Orlando also announced that they are already preparing for next year’s kerygma conference. Next year, “Live Glorious! Kerygma Conference 2011” will be on November 18-20, 2011. This will be another BIG event. Be sure to come!

Bro. Adrian Panganiban – a former teen idol in Philippines show business, is as comfortable on the stage as off it. He wears many hats as a worship leader, preacher, concert director, couturier, and concert producer. But for him, “The service I love to do are the little things which no one knows about.” He leads worship sessions in the Feast PICC.

Bro. Bo Sanchez – founder of the Light of Jesus Family in 1980 that has helped start various independent ministries. Bo has extensively used the media for his evangelization work, founding magazines, writing books, and mounting shoes in electronic media broadcast as well as online. Bo is also an international speaker, traveling extensively around the world. He begun various independent foundations as part of his work for the poor, which are now beneficiaries of the Kerygma Conference. Bo is also a micro-entrepreneur, He engages in small business and real state not only for his family’s needs and for his various projects, but also from his firm belief that one of the most important solutions to his country’s economic problem is to raise up more micro-entrepreneurs among his countrymen. Above all, Bo believes that his first call is to be a loving husband to his wife Marowe and a devoted father to his sons Benedict and Francis.

Bro. Pio Español – is the Light of Jesus District Feast Builder for the whole Rizal Province where he heads the Feast Taytay. He is the brother if Vic Español, the Feast Ortigas Builder. Bro. Pio is one of the pioneer elders of the Light of Jesus Family and has established LOJ chapters in the Visayas and as far as North America. Bro. Pio knows his priorities well: “I’m a husband first, a father second, and a leader, third. If I keep those three in that order, I’ll be successful husband, father, and leader.”

Bro. Obet Cabrillas – is the builder of Feast Manila where a thousand students and young professionals gather week after week, and are spiritually nourished. A powerful preacher known for his wit and sense of humor, Bro. Obet is one of the most sought-after speakers especially for youth gatherings.

Chad Borja – After a bout with cancer in 1998, premier balladeer Chad Borja is singing again. Chad was sidelined from performing live for nearly a year due to thyroid cancer. After throat operation and radiation therapy, Chad was declared cancer-free. Aside from singing, Chad spends a lot of time on the golf course with his TGIS team in Davao City where he is based now. Regularly playing and constant tournament winnings earned him his current single handicap. Going through different experiences has made Chad realize that like is too short to dwell on problems. Knowing what is most valuable and essential is the key to have a stress-free life. Chad and his family chooses to be joyful and thankful for the many blessings that they already have.

Fr. Sulpicio “Pepe” Vincoy – is the Oeconomus of the Diocese of Dumaguete, and Spiritual Director of several organizations of the diocese, such as the Charismatic Renewal, Divine Mercy Apostolate as well as the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (BCBP). He is also the Exorcist of the Diocese of Dumaguete. He has been in the healing ministry since his ordination to the priesthood in 1994.
