Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to undergo Spine Surgery because of her dislocated Titanium implant

Just recently, I saw on the ABS-CBN TV Patrol news that Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo (former President of the Philippines) is scheduled to undergo a Spine Surgery because of the dislocated or dislodged Titanium implant that she previously had.


St. Luke Medical Hostpital, where Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was admitted, released a medical bulletin disclosing Arroyo’s condition. Gloria Arroyo’s Titanium implant was dislocated for some reason, resulting to neck pain, shoulder pain and other parts of her body. Former President Arroyo had a cervical spine surgery before because she suffered from a damaged cervical spine with multilevel cervical spondylosis.

Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and family members had a long meeting with St. Luke’s Medical Center director Dr. Joven Cuanang, Arroyo’s personal physician Dr. Juliet Gopez-Cervantes and orthopedic surgeon Mario Ver to discus Arroyo’s high-risk surgery. She and her doctors had come to a decision that they would push through with the said high-risk operation.

According to Dr. Cervantes “The (damaged) cervical spine has really given her problems particularly and most especially the pain compounded with her progressive neurologic deficit,”

“We want to ask for your prayers because this is one of the most difficult procedures because the nerves involved have major functions in the movement and sensation of the arms as well as the pattern of breathing as well as other organs that might be touched and displaced a bit during actual procedure,” Cervantes added.

According to Dr. Juliet Gopez-Cevantes, the revision of surgery is scheduled on Wednesday at 9:00am and will probably last for 4 to 5 hours. Gloria Arroyo might suffer from paralysis or even worse if left untreated.
